Why Governments and NGOs Partner with Dr Water Loo
Everyone involved in sanitation in Africa realises the massive challenges that governments and NGOs face in establishing and building sustainable sanitation systems. The need to replace pit latrines and bucket systems is real and remains a long-term goal for many countries. Money and viable systems will remain a challenge for many years to come, and the pace of building these systems is also a long-term process.
We support these long-term goals of governments and the WHO to eradicate these unhygienic circumstances affecting millions of people. We are also aware that some of the 2035 goals are still far away, and communities need solutions to deal with poor sanitation in the meantime, until these projects are completed.
Raw human faeces remain a daily concern and need to be dealt with until proper sanitation systems can be built. The daily smell, flies, and primary health issues, such as diarrhoea, secondary bladder infections, roundworm, infected rivers and contaminated groundwater, still remain in the meantime.
Dr Water Loo was developed to address these exact challenges with human faeces until better sanitation facilities are developed in various communities and countries.
For the reasons stated above, governments and NGOs are partnering with Dr Water Loo across Africa to address these very real day-to-day issues in their communities.
01
For Governments & Municipalities
The challenge of managing basic sanitation in high-density informal settlements, squatter camps, and rural areas places an enormous strain on government resources. Relying on communities to constantly relocate and dig new pit latrines is
01
Support National Health:
Dr Water Loo is specifically designed to support National Health programs by radically improving hygiene and eradicating the vectors (like flies and mosquitoes) that cause secondary illnesses such as diarrhea, cholera, and urinary infections
02
Save Municipal Land & Resources:
Our 2-pill treatment drops the level of a full pit latrine by at least 55 cm within just 2 to 3 days of the first treatment, meaning households do not have to relocate their facilities
03
Protect the Environment:
The 100% organic biological treatment actively digests the slimy anaerobic sludge that causes pits to overflow, safely restoring natural water seepage and protecting vital groundwater, rivers, and dams
02
For NGOs & Global Health Organizations
We work hand-in-hand with non-governmental organizations and international entities (such as WASH / UNICEF initiatives) in their drive to bring better sanitation to vulnerable communities
01
Save Municipal Land & Resources:
During a rigorous 2023 pilot program run by the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health and Sanitation, our product successfully eliminated the need to empty latrines, completely eradicated the presence of flies, and achieved an 83% household satisfaction rate
02
Scalable Impact:
The results of our trials were so successful that the Sierra Leone Directorate of Environmental Health and Sanitation appealed to the World Health Organization (WHO) to help scale the distribution of our product nationwide. Comprehensive trial reports are available upon request to assist with your funding and project proposals
03
For Resellers, Wholesalers & SMEs
Dr Water Loo presents a highly profitable, fast-moving consumer good for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), retail outlets, and wholesalers looking to offer an essential household product
01
First to Market:
We offer a unique, first-to-market service that solves a daily, critical problem for millions of households
02
Excellent Shelf Life:
Our sealed 2-pill packs boast an incredible 48-month shelf life, making them perfect for long-term retail distribution and bulk wholesale without the risk of rapid expiratio
03
High Repeat Purchase Rate:
Because the conditions in a pit latrine will eventually return to their original state, the treatment must be repeated. A single treatment lasts 8 to 10 days for a household of 6 to 8 people, ensuring consistent, repeat foot traffic to your store
04
International Manufacturing & Licensing
While we proudly manufacture, package, and sell our product from our base in Johannesburg, South Africa, our goal is global impact. For international partners, manufacturing in other countries under license is possible once a strong, verified relationship is established
